It focuses on crafting a queer sensuality that diverges from traditional burlesque or stripping, while supporting the performers' sense of embodiment and authenticity within the movement. Y2GAY blends commercial dance styles with queer-coded pop culture references to reclaim and subvert the highly gendered choreography of the early 2000s. By challenging the trauma-focused narratives that are commonly seen in pop culture and mainstream media when centering queer experiences, Y2GAY prioritizes joy, radical consent, and feeling hot hot hot in the body, aiming to expand queer expression and liberation in an inclusive, affirming way.
